The Polk County Health Department has been in existence since 1979 The services offered are available to all residents of Polk County, regardless of income status. Funding comes from a number of sources including: private contracts, private payment based on a fee for services, donations, grants, and tax support from the Polk County Government.
Services of the department include: Homemaker/Chore Services, School Nursing, Health Screenings, Health Education Program, Pedicure Clinics, Blood Pressure Clinics, Public Flu Vaccines, Immunization Clinics - Adult and Childhood, Drug/Alcohol Testing, Lifeline, Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance.

Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery
Twice a year the York Fire Department assists the York High School FFA program in changing batteries in smoke detectors. This service is for anyone not able or wanting to climb a ladder in their home to change batteries in their smoke detectors.
In certain conditions, they will also install your new detectors for you.
