Facility: St. John Lutheran Church opened the Child Development Center to 39 children from our community, ages 3 years to 6th grade, in August of 1992. The Center operated out of Schuelke Dorm on the Concordia College campus until June 1997, then to the corner of Highway 34 and Columbia for 20 years.
Our new site lies just north of the church at 1053 N. Columbia, and serves 120+ children, ages 18 months through the 6th grade. The relocation of the Child Development Center in 2016 was a miracle made possible by many generous donors and church members, who gave richly of their time, talent and treasure through the “For the Coming Generations” Capital Campaign.
Ministry: The Child Development Center is a ministry of outreach that has shared the love of Jesus with hundreds of families from 5 surrounding counties throughout the years. Programs include year-round care for toddlers, preschool and school age children. Our center’s hours are 6:00am to 6:00pm, Monday-Friday.
Programs: We have two toddler rooms, four preschool rooms and also two school-age rooms for before and after-school care and a summer program.
Accreditation: The Child Development Center is accredited by the National Lutheran Schools Association (NLSA) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
We offer preferred Christian nurture ministry locally, while impacting globally through our partnership with Concordia University.
