Making Work Incentives Work for You: An Overview of Social Security Benefits (Virtual)
January 22, 2024 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm CST
Are you looking for ways to engage with individuals you serve in their employment goals but are worried about loss of benefits when obtaining employment?
This is the workshop for you. Join us for this FREE workshop where Melissa Lemmer and Madeline Hendrix-Jones of the Mental Health Association of Nebraska will provide participants with a basic understanding of Social Security Administration work incentives. For many Social Security Beneficiaries work is an important part of recovery. Sometimes benefit situations prevent beneficiaries from taking opportunities in the community. This workshop will provide information about how to obtain a written benefits summary and analysis so beneficiaries can make informed choices about work and earnings.
Participants will be able to:
- Identify common work incentives through Social Security Administration.
- Differentiate between Supplemental Security Insurance (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).
- Explore common work incentive definitions.
- Discuss Medicaid/Medicare.
Participants are encouraged to bring their lunch for this training. Lunch will not be provided.
This session is virtual (online).
