Holiday of Hope
Holidays can be different and often stressful after the death of a family member. Our Holiday Hope event helps families plan and emotionally prepare for the upcoming holiday season.
Grief is difficult to process at any time of the year, but the holidays pose new challenges and reminders of loss after the death of someone significant. At Holiday Hope, children and their families are given space to grieve as they learn how to honor the person who died during their religious, spiritual, friend and family holiday traditions. Local artists will lead youth to create memorial art to honor their person, helping the youth express their grief and foster emotional healing. Concurrent support groups for caretakers will explore strategies for navigating the holidays while grief is present. By remembering those who have died during this holiday season, we can hold on to important traditions and find peace and solace through new or modified traditions.
Holiday Hope is free to attend, but registration is required. Snacks and supplies will be provided. This program is not recommended for children under 4 years of age.
