Coping with Your Child’s Autism
A key principle to coping with a child with autism is to be able to dispel myths, and see the child as a child whose voice is unique. Myths will be addressed, and key strategies in assisting the journey of this unique child will be shared.
- Objective 1: Participants will be able to describe the core symptoms of autism which includes: social communication challenges and restricted, repetitive behaviors.
- Objective 2: Participants will be able to describe the relationship and difference between ADHD and Autism by listing at one characteristic that is not a myth.
- Objective 3: Participants will be able to name at least two tips and/or resources for coping with the emotional crises that their autistic child/adolescent may experience.
- Objective 4: Participants will be able to identify available resources when concerned about their child/adolescent’s personal safety.
