1.10.2022 Update on COVID-19 Numbers

Four Corners Health Department is continuing to monitor COVID-19 cases very closely. Here is an update on what we know.

Each week, a small number of COVID tests are sequenced to determine the variants circulating the District. In the last 7 days (January 3rd-January 9th), of four COVID tests that were sent for variant testing, all four tests have been confirmed to be positive with the Omicron variant. This includes 1 case from Butler county and 3 from York. The Omicron variant has been identified in all four counties in the District and is considered the predominant COVID variant circulating at this time.

The last 14 days (December 27- January 9) saw a total of 497 cases in the District. The past 7 days (January 3 to January 9) have seen 313 new positive (lab-tested) COVID-19 cases in the Four Corners District.  The 7-day case total for each county is as follows:

  • Butler County— 53 (7 day case rate/100,000 population = 658)
  • Polk County— 28 (7 day case rate/100,000 population = 531)
  • Seward County— 130 (7 day case rate/100,000 population = 751)
  • York County— 102 (7 day case rate/100,000 population = 741)

Two additional deaths from December have been determined to be COVID-19 related. This was a woman in her 70’s from Polk County and a woman in her 50’s from Seward County. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 97 for the Four Corners District.  Seward County has had 42 total COVID-19 related deaths, Polk County 23, York County 19, and Butler 13.
