Building Hope in York

You are invited to our upcoming Building Hope Event on July 17th at Kilgore Memorial Library, 6:00 – 6:45pm.  No registration is needed.

Building Hope in Yourself and Others, presented by Carrie Gottschalk, LIMHP, CPC, Engagement Zone Coordinator – Zone 7, Nebraska Extension, University of Nebraska – Lincoln

Children’s Activities will happen at the same time, led by the library staff in the Early Childhood Discovery Center.

A Hope Survey will be launching soon.  Take the “Hope Survey” to learn ways to build hope in yourself.  Retake the survey to watch your level of hope grow.  The survey is anonymous. 

Hope Rising Community Book Review coming on Tuesday, September 17th at Kilgore Memorial Library.  The library has multiple copies of Hope Rising (physical copies, as well as audio and digital copies).  Join a community book discussion on September 17th!

Tobacco Quitting Info Session

Are you thinking about quitting tobacco?  Together, let’s say NO to Tobacco!  Join us to learn what is available in Nebraska and locally to help you quit.  

You’ll also learn about two tobacco quitting programs:

  • Beat the Pack
  • Freedom From Smoking

These sessions are free, and last about 45 minutes.

Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Workshop


Create a personalized system of wellness and an action plan to care for yourself and others!

Lunch will be on your own.  Feel free to bring a lunch with you, or there are several restaurants and grocery stores within a 5 mile radius, some of them within walking distance.

Stepping On Workshop in Seward!

1 in 4 people age 65 or older has a fall each year.  Don’t be one of them!  

Take a Stepping On Workshop!  Stepping On can help you avoid a dangerous and costly fall so you can keep doing the things you love to do.  In just 7 weeks you’ll learn:

  • To identify and remove or avoid fall hazards both inside and outside your home
  • How vision, hearing, medication, and footwear affect your risk of falling
  • Strength and balance exercises you can adapt to your individual level
  • To get back on your feet the right way if you do fall

Stepping On has been researched and proven to reduce falls by 31%.  

Classes begin July 31st, 1:00 – 3:00pm at the Seward Senior Center, 1010 Manor Drive, Seward, NE.

Living Well with Diabetes

We will begin a new Living Well with Diabetes workshop on Mondays August 5th – September 16th at the Kilgore Memorial Library, 820 N Nebraska Ave, York, NE  68467 from 1:00pm – 3:30pm.

This interactive workshop is facilitated by trained leaders and helps individuals with diabetes take steps to manage their health and live happier, healthier lives.

Topics include:  Action planning, healthy eating, physical activity, dealing with emotions, medication usage, and MORE!
